Job Description
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in the Acute Care unit at Strathmore Hospital. Delivers medical, surgical, full lifespan, and palliative nursing care while utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills within an interprofessional healthcare team. Provides safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centred care, follows nursing standards and protocols, and works to full scope of practice. The role involves physically demanding duties including lifting, transferring, transporting patients, and handling equipment. Requires completion of an accredited practical nursing program, active or eligible registration with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA), and current BCLS-HCP certification. Current nursing experience, computer skills, and IV therapy/medication knowledge required. CTAS, cardiac monitoring, dementia, rural, acute care, CVC certification, elderly care, and palliative care experience preferred.
